Why do I need to replace my pump parts?
Pump parts are made with food grade BPA free silicone. As the silicone begins to degrade in the valves or diaphragm, suction power becomes impacted and this can in turn impact how much milk is expressed.
If you are overdue to replace your breast pump parts, replacing the parts may help resolve decreased milk supply due to poor suction
Replacing pump parts on time also helps prevent any bacterial contamination of your pump and your milk.

1. Flanges aka Breast Cushion: These are the funnel-shaped parts that fit over your nipples. They come in various sizes to accommodate different nipple shapes and sizes. Melony Pumps all contain a standard 25mm breast shield with two spare flanges (17mm and 21mm) to help you find your perfect fit

How often should you replace your wearable breast pump parts?
The frequency of replacing your breast pump parts depends on your pumping habits. However, as a general guide you should replace your pump parts at least every 90 days.

- Pumping once per day: Replace every 2-3 months.
- Pumping more frequently: Replace every 1 month.
- Pumping once per day: Replace around every 2-3 months.
- Pumping more frequently: Replace every 1.5-2 months.
Breast Shields/Flanges: Replace every 6 months. Regularly check for cracks, tears or malformation that may indicate the need for immediate replacement.
It's generally recommended to inspect your flanges regularly for signs of wear and tear, such as cracks, tears, discolouration, or loss of elasticity which indicate the need for immediate replacement. If you notice any of these signs or if you experience discomfort while pumping, it's time to replace your flanges. Additionally, if your breast size changes significantly, you may need to switch to a different flange size.
